Stay (dog training)

Prissy is so excited when I get down on the floor to practice training with her. She is so eager! The latest command is "stay". She is about at 50% compliance for that. No problem. Baby steps. I make sure to praise her a lot and she gets a click and treat right away when she does it correctly. I am so blessed to have such a good little dog. She wants so much to please! I really enjoy working with her and am looking forward to the challenges of scenery changes and distractions. This is a learning situation for both of us. <3

Dog Training with the Clik-R

I started Prissy on clicker training today. This purple Clik-R is wonderful. I think she was a little confused by it at first but she picked it up quickly. We are starting with "look at me" and "sit". I use BilJac brand of LittleJacs training treats. She is such a smart little dog. I'm impressed! She has done very well today. I think a little training every day will help her progress nicely. I'll try to keep updating her progress. My goal is for her to eventually be able to help me by bringing my diabetes case to me when I need it. I may be dizzy and unable to get it myself. I've had times where I was very shakey and unable to hold anything much less walk steadily. EDITED to add: Prissy did so well with the first two commands and was so eager to do more so I added lay down and stand commands. Lay down she knew from previous training, and stand was new. She did pretty well. Stand was a little puzzling for her but she managed it. We'll keep on plugging away at it. I need to find a diabetes case that she can carry in her mouth. I'm thinking something like quilted cloth that she can kind of bite into to get a grip. And maybe with a strap she could grab. I'll have to start looking.

Goodbye iPhone, Hello Verizon Unlimited

OK, so I thought things were looking up, LOL. Well, my phone was shut off today and the lovely message on there said that for a $40 charge I could start paying them again, I mean they would turn it back on. Ha. I was planning on getting a cheaper phone so I just went ahead and did that instead. So it will be cheaper but it wasn't today. Today it was $70. The phone was like $14 and the activation card was $50. So I'm still not saving anything yet. Next month it will be cheaper. But the money I spent on the phone was supposed to go on the electric and water bills. So much for that. At least I got to keep the same number. That prevents major headache of telling everyone a new number. So I still have electric and water, for now. Yippee for Samsung Verizon Unlimited phone with talk, text and web!

The long and winding road...

Well, a lot has gone down in the past couple of days. I got the keys to my new apartment, but in order to do that I had to turn on the electric. I had not used the company for the new address, so I had to pay a $300 deposit. There went my money for other bills. I've started selling off my furniture on craigslist to try and make it up. It seems one step forward and two back. At least it will be less furniture that I have to move. I feel a strange sense of calm even with all this stuff going on. I know that God has me on this winding path for a reason. He is in control and I am comforted by that.

Cute craft idea for candy/gifts

I think these are really cute and I'd like to make some out of scrapbook paper. (I have plenty!) If you don't sew, I bet these could be stapled with cute colored staples!

There are times when it is hard and it's just too much for you

Today feels like one of those days. As I sit here I just want to dissolve. To become an invisible person, that nobody can see or hear. I want to hide. I know my sugar has been high today. I have felt very sleepy and irritable, have discomfort in my legs and feet and I just want to cry. I am unable to focus and it bothers me. How long are my friends going to put up with me this way? I feel like I'm fussing at them a lot lately. They don't deserve it. My vision has been horrible. Sometimes I can't even read. I feel like a dysfunctional entity that needs to be sent back for repairs. Out of order.
