Stay (dog training)

Prissy is so excited when I get down on the floor to practice training with her. She is so eager! The latest command is "stay". She is about at 50% compliance for that. No problem. Baby steps. I make sure to praise her a lot and she gets a click and treat right away when she does it correctly. I am so blessed to have such a good little dog. She wants so much to please! I really enjoy working with her and am looking forward to the challenges of scenery changes and distractions. This is a learning situation for both of us. <3

Dog Training with the Clik-R

I started Prissy on clicker training today. This purple Clik-R is wonderful. I think she was a little confused by it at first but she picked it up quickly. We are starting with "look at me" and "sit". I use BilJac brand of LittleJacs training treats. She is such a smart little dog. I'm impressed! She has done very well today. I think a little training every day will help her progress nicely. I'll try to keep updating her progress. My goal is for her to eventually be able to help me by bringing my diabetes case to me when I need it. I may be dizzy and unable to get it myself. I've had times where I was very shakey and unable to hold anything much less walk steadily. EDITED to add: Prissy did so well with the first two commands and was so eager to do more so I added lay down and stand commands. Lay down she knew from previous training, and stand was new. She did pretty well. Stand was a little puzzling for her but she managed it. We'll keep on plugging away at it. I need to find a diabetes case that she can carry in her mouth. I'm thinking something like quilted cloth that she can kind of bite into to get a grip. And maybe with a strap she could grab. I'll have to start looking.
